What makes our School Different?

Monday, 15 October 2007
Children with Flags on Leith LinksLeith Primary is an amazing and historic building right on the edge of Leith Links.  Although the building hosts a number of different users the school has very spacious and flexible accommodation.  There are music rooms, a games room, a library and an art and practical room.

The school truly reflects its catchment area.  We are proud of the diversity of the children and families we serve.  We are proud of the quality of education we provide for all children. We have an excellent record in providing care, support and challenge for all pupils.  We promote positive behaviour, respect for all and encourage a positive attitude to learning.

If you would like to see more please arrange a visit through the office.

Well Done Leith Primary

Friday, 11 May 2012

Our P6 and 7 team had a fantastic match against a very skillful St Johns Portobello - one of their boys plays with Celtic - thanks to heroic defending and a great team performance we hung in and with the last kick of match levelled to 4-4, thanks to a precision corner from Ryan and great header from Lewis. It was like winning the cup!

Olympic Sports Day – Friday 8th June morning

Friday, 11 May 2012
This is the provisional date for the event. There will be lots of new exciting attractions during the games. If we are rained off then the next available date is Friday 22nd June.
The Parents Council are appealing for donations to sell on the stalls.  All money raised goes towards improving the School environment.
We're looking for Books/DVDs and Brick a Brack.  There will also be a sports stall so any Sports Equipment would be greatly appreciated.   Toy donations will be saved  for the Christmas Fair. Please drop off donation to the school at Reception.

P5 Class Trip to Wallace Monument & Bannockburn

Friday, 11 May 2012
bannockburn2.jpg
On Thursday 3rd May we went to Stirling to visit the Wallace Monument and Bannockburn as part of our Wars of Independence topic.
When we arrived at the Wallace Monument we split into two groups. My group started to climb the steep , winding steps . It was really fun but also quite scary. On our way to the top we stopped in the rooms , one of which had a creepy hologram of William Wallace telling his story. From the top we had a great view of Stirling. (Iskra)

At Bannockburn we went into the education room to learn about weapons and life at the time. The man who was teaching us, Mike, was the FUNNIEST man on earth. It was interesting to learn about the weapons like the two handed sword and the spiky morning star. My favourite part was the little dramas we did, especially when Iskra really wanted to talk! I liked this bit the best because it was so funny. (Bonnie)

We saw a realistic film about the Battle of Bannockburn. An old man was telling the story as he saw it when he was little. He was very eager back then and like all the other boys he wanted to take a glimpse of the mighty English army. The man talked through the entire story explaining the sights and details. The storyline was about him seeing the battle between the Scots and the English armies. One English soldier saw Bruce and aimed for him but Bruce steered his horse out the way and whacked him on the head. Then the fierce, gory fighting began. (Natalia)

At Bannockburn we tried on clothes that people wore at the time of the Battle of Bannockburn. The chain mail was EXTREMELY heavy. I tried to pick it up but I could hardly lift it. Some people put the whole thing on, but I only put on the one for your head. When I took it off, my head felt so light. Thomas.N put on one of those hat things you put on before you put the chain mail on and he looked really funny. Danyal sad he looked like an elf! I put on a helmet that goes over your face. It was really heavy and I could hardly see out of it, I don't know how soldiers could fight with them on. I really enjoyed it. (Lachlan)
