School Uniform Policy

Written by Alasdair Friend Saturday, 13 October 2007

We do have a school uniform which children are encouraged to wear - school sweatshirts are very practical and smart. The City of Edinburgh Council supports the school dress code. Wearing school uniform encourages a child to take pride in his/herself and the school. It raises the tone of the school and forms part of the 'feel good' factor about our school. School sweatshirts are available from the office and there are plenty in stock. We have introduced a special sweatshirt for P7 pupils which distinguishes them from other pupils. We have recently introduced school fleeces.

Homework Policy

Written by Alasdair Friend Saturday, 13 October 2007

Homework can form a very useful bridge between home and school. It is important that homework given fulfils, as far as possible the expectations of parents, pupils and teachers. To that end we now have a homework policy which is issued to every family. Should you wish to read this policy, a copy may be obtained from the school. A shortened leaflet will be issued to each family at the beginning of each session.

Anti-Bullying Policy

Written by Alasdair Friend Saturday, 13 October 2007

Bullying takes many forms. Bullying can be short-term, or can continue over years. Bullying can be physical or verbal or even just a threatening look. Bullying can be overt or subtle intimidation.

Bullying is the wilful and consistent desire to hurt or threaten or frighten someone else.

We aim through the whole ethos of the school to prevent bullying.

This policy relies upon children being honest when reporting incidents and being willing to admit when they have done wrong.

Policy Aims:
We aim to provide a secure atmosphere where:

1. Children respect each other, mix well and have a caring attitude to each other.
2. Each child feels valued.
3. We help children recognise bullying.
4. Children know that we will treat bullying incidents as serious, unacceptable behaviour which will be dealt with as such.
5. Incidents involving bullying are investigated openly.
6. Support will be provided for victims and abusers.
